Lawrence E. Thomas is a partner at Edward Jones in St. Louis. He began working with Edward Jones in 1977 as an intern while attending Washington University. He spent most of his time in the Securities Research and Branch Administration departments. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1977, he was hired full time in the firm’s Corporate Bond Trading department. His role involved locating corporate bond investments to fit the needs of individual investors. Five years later he became principal. In 1985, he established the Government Bond department.
Thomas earned his MBAs from Lindenwood University in St. Louis and Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management.
Thomas has served on the Boards of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, Children’s Hospital, the Herbert Hoover Boys and Girls Club, the St. Louis Zoo, Forest Park Forever, the Bond Market Association, and the Bond Market Foundation. He was elected to the Washington University Board of Trustees in 1998 and serves as chair of the University Finance Committee and as a member of the Executive, Honorary Degree, Nominating & Governance, and Undergraduate Life Committees. He is also a member of the Business National Council.
