Barbara Schaps Thomas is a member of the Washington University Board of Trustees and retired senior vice president and chief financial officer for HBO Sports, New York.
In her role at HBO Sports, Thomas was responsible for operations and financial administration of both major sports departments in HBO, HBO Sports, and Time Warner Sports, $100MM Sports Programming budget and TVKO’s (HBO’s pay-per-view arm) multimillion dollar events. Some of her other responsibilities included: negotiations of major boxing promoter contracts, cable affiliate contracting, clearing and collects, as well as negotiations of all program and talent deals, administering free-lance and on-air hires.
Thomas earned her bachelor’s degrees from Washington University and her master of business administration degree from Northwestern University. She was elected to the Washington University Board of Trustees in 1994 and has served on the Audit, Development, Educational Policy, Nominating & Governance, and Undergraduate Life Committees.
